Inexpensive way to see Malta and your own pace

Great way to see the Island and a good price, you can plan your day out or just hop off if you see something that catches your eye.Dont expect the head phones to work though, its 50/50 chance that the bus your on will work.

Good day out and a good price.
Great Tour

Very friendly staff at pick up point in Sliema very helpful with information about the South tour which we did yesterday .We stopped and got off at Marsaxlokk great little fishing village with a nice outdoor market and then got the bus back for the rest of the tour .The bus arrived spot on time aswell
Great value

We booked with Rami who has a stall opposite Preluna Hotel in Sliema. He did us a great deal for 2 bus tours (North and south) and the harbour cruise (35 each). We really enjoyed all 3, great value for the time you spend and captures everything you need to see. Buses all on time. Commentary interesting on all. Defo get off at Golden Bay on the North tour, its lovely. Mdina is amazing. On the South, we loved Marseloxx and of course Valletta. Harbour cruise was a small ish boat but really good trip. Malta is lovely.
Great value for 3 hours

Great Value for 3 hours. Possibly too long. But if thats tbe case then simply get off! Do this on you first day. Essential that you do not get the North tour. as its not as good. Not all head sets work. Move seat until it does We had a great driver.
OK for first timers, but most stops are not marked

If you are a first-timer to Malta, the hop-on hop-off tours are a good way to see many places on the island, but:
It takes about 3 hours to do just one loop, so be prepared to spend a lot of time on the bus. The audio guides on each seat are quite informative but as everywhere, the free provided cheap, low quality headphones are really bad making the audio sound worse than it is. Simple solution: bring your own !
We started our tour in Marsaxlokk but had no idea where the bus would stop. Many bus stops have no indication that the Hopon/off buses stop there. So we asked several locals to give us a hint. Even the customer service was unable th provide the correct bus stop. So we waited at the wrong bus stop and missed the bus and waited an extra hour as the buses go only about very hour.
If you know where to go, there are faster options, Local transportation (combined with google maps on your phone) are an inexpensive way to get around, but still it takes a lot of time.
Your fastest option is to use a taxi. They are not too expensive. We used eCabs, which is more or less the same as UBER. Fixed rates, no hassle with payment to the driver, the rides are automatically taken from your account. In our case there was no issues with the credit card. Each ride was billed correctly.
