City and countryside tour

Took the red line from the cruise port, so easy. Nice to get out of the city on a hop on hop off bus and a great way to see the countryside on this 3 hour round trip. If you choose to get off at country stops, approx 1 hour to next bus. Final stop is Valletta old town. What a hidden gem of a city. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, informative and excellent value. There are 2 routes which take just about 5 hours if you don't get off. The north route is probably the better one to do. They both give you the opportunity to get off and visit Valletta but the you probably need 2 to 3 days to see attractions properly. Unfortunately our time was limited as on a cruise. The north bus has a short stay at the Medina where there are toilets . We were strapped for time having done the south route first but then got caught in a terrific thunderstorm. Quite amusing with a waterfall down the stairs. It was still raining when we got back to Valletta so never got to see it.
Worth doing

Went on the blue (north) route and enjoyed it very much with the ear piece giving historical information in the language of your choice. I only wish I’d had time to do the red (south) route and the boat tour. Recommended.

If you can't find anything else to do, this is the tour for you, but, take the loop that goes to the coast. The tour through the city is horribly boring. 3 hours of hot sun looking at pretty much nothing. The audio didn't work well.
An Introduction to the Islands.

A good way to see the sights, if you do not want to take public transportation. You have to realize that you are not going to see all the places you want on a 24 hour pass, so you need to be selective on when you hop on and hopefully know how long you want to stay in your selection before hopping back on again. The bus is pretty much on schedule, they do stop a lot in the summer, and mostly neglect to tell you how long or why they are stopping and waiting. You need to pay attention as to where you can re-board the bus, and if when you need to be at the return site to get back to your hotel. It introduced us to the islands, but the tour of Gozo was rushed and we were only able to see adequately two sites. We are comfortable enough now to use the fantastic Malta Public Transportation System to tour the islands.
